"聞く" and "聴く, both "listen to".
However, kanji is different.
"聞く", There are a gate (門) and an ear (耳).
"聴く", there is an ear (耳), 14 (十四) and heart (心).
This difference is
聞く: I hear stories that convenient to me, but I close my door when the stories that inconvenient to me.
聴く: the king (abbreviated) listens to the hearts of the fourteen people.
Kanji has meaning.
We can learn how to live in one kanji character.
And, we learn the miraculous power of language.
